Nokia unveils new products at CeBIT
News by Michael Oryl on Tuesday March 11, 2003.

Anssi Vanjoki of NokiaNokia released a few new phones today at the CeBIT conference in Hannover, Germany. New today are the Nokia 3300 Music Phone and the Nokia 6220 EDGE/GSM Phone.
The 3300 has the same form factor as the N-Gage, but with less buttons. It supports stereo music from either the built-in FM radio or MP3 files stored in memory. And speaking of memory storage, like the N-Gage it has a MMC slot for expansion. It supports MMS, and even has a line out jack so that you can pipe the music into an external stereo system. This handset, like the 5510 before it, will not work in North America as it is only a dual-band GSM device.
The other new phone is the 6220, an EDGE handset. It supports data rates of up to 118.4Kbps on EDGE networks and supports normal GPRS data on GSM networks.
Getting back into the car-phone business, Nokia introduces its new 810 Car Phone. It has a large external LCD display for providing information to the user, can be configured to work with two different users, and even supports Bluetooth so you can send the contacts from your Bluetooth phone to the car phone. This device is only dual-band and will not work in North America.
Nokia also introduced a Bluetooth based image viewer. The device accepts images sent via Bluetooth from a phone such as the 3650, and display them on a TV. It can display them singly or show a series of photos as a slide show
Lastly, Nokia also introduced a Bluetooth pen. God only knows why. They gave no real details at all on the pen at the press conference, but when we spoke with some Nokia reps later the next day we learned that it was based on the same Anoto design as the Sony Ericsson model. In fact, we saw a Logitech version of the very same pen elsewhere in the fair. We have some live photos from a demo that one of the Nokia reps gave us.
And just a quick not on shipping schedules. We are told that the 6800 will begin shipping this month in some markets. We don't expect the North American version to be part of this.
We have posted a few images of the new devices on the following pages. We are going to a Nokia cocktail party tomorrow and have been told that we will be able to get more photos and some time with the devices then - so keep checking back!
