The 3G network operator, 3, has launched its fifth handset, the NEC e808Y. The e808Y is loaded with features – such as 2 cameras, a full QWERTY keyboard, email client, huge 65K color screen, and polyphonic ringtones. Being a 3G phone, it can handle services like video calling, video downloads, and other cool location based services.

You might be thinking that the e808Y is similar to the e606, that I have reviewed HERE. Well it is. Both are similar phones, with the primary differences being the different form factor (one being a folder and one being open), larger screen size in the e808Y, and that the e808Y has a full QWERTY keypad. Hopefully NEC has also fixed some of the software problems that were found in the e606 review.

Here’s a rundown of the features:

  • Dimensions: 143 x 75 x 20mm
  • Weight: 190g
  • Display: 65K color TFT (132x162 pixels)
  • Dual cameras (front and back) with 2x Zoom
  • Memory: 64MB (internal)
  • Video calling
  • Media player (play audio and video)
  • Email client
  • Game play supported by JAVATM
  • USB connectivity
  • Calendar and contacts
